100% Raw Silk Cover cleaning instructions:

Cleaning raw silk requires gentle care to preserve its delicate texture and natural sheen. Here's a guide on how to clean 100% raw silk:

Spot Cleaning: Address stains promptly by dabbing the affected area with a clean, damp cloth. Avoid rubbing vigorously, as this can damage the fibers.

Hand Washing:

  • Fill a basin or sink with lukewarm water.
  • Add a small amount of mild detergent specifically formulated for delicate fabrics.
  • Submerge the raw silk garment in the water and gently agitate it.
  • Allow the garment to soak for a short period, typically 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Rinse the garment thoroughly with cool water until all detergent is removed.
  • Avoid wringing or twisting the fabric, as this can distort its shape.
  • Instead, gently press out excess water by pressing the garment between clean, dry towels.

Machine Washing (Optional): Some raw silk garments may be labeled as machine washable. If so, use a gentle cycle with cold water and a mild detergent designed for delicate fabrics. Place the garment in a mesh laundry bag to minimize friction and protect it from snagging.

Drying:

  • Lay the garment flat on a clean, dry towel.
  • Gently reshape it to its original dimensions.
  • Allow the garment to air dry away from direct sunlight and heat sources, which can cause the silk to become brittle.
  • Avoid hanging raw silk garments to dry, as this can cause them to stretch out of shape.

Steam Ironing:

  • Once the garment is nearly dry, iron it on the lowest setting while still slightly damp.
  • Place a clean, dry cloth between the iron and the silk to prevent direct contact, as direct heat can damage the fibers.
  • Move the iron gently and continuously to prevent creating shiny spots or scorching.
  • Ironing on the wrong side of the fabric can help preserve its sheen.
  • Professional Cleaning:
  • For valuable or heavily soiled raw silk garments, consider professional dry cleaning to ensure proper care and maintenance.
  • Choose a reputable dry cleaner experienced in handling delicate fabrics.

Cotton Poplin Cover cleaning instructions:

Gentle hand wash in cold water. Cleaning cotton poplin is relatively straightforward, as cotton is a durable fabric that can withstand regular washing. Here's how to clean cotton poplin:

Machine Washing:

  • Turn the garment inside out to protect the outer surface and reduce the risk of fading.
  • Wash similar colors together to prevent color transfer.
  • Set the washing machine to a gentle cycle using cold or lukewarm water. Hot water can cause cotton to shrink and fade.
  • Use a mild detergent formulated for colors or delicate fabrics.
  • Avoid overloading the washing machine to allow the garments to move freely and prevent wrinkling.
  • If the garment has any embellishments or delicate details, such as embroidery or beading, consider placing it in a mesh laundry bag to protect these elements.
  • Once the washing cycle is complete, promptly remove the garment from the machine to prevent wrinkles from setting in.

Hand Washing (Optional):

  • If preferred, cotton poplin garments can also be hand washed for gentler treatment.
  • Fill a basin or sink with cold or lukewarm water and add a small amount of mild detergent.
  • Submerge the garment in the soapy water and gently agitate it.
  • Allow the garment to soak for a short period, typically 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Rinse the garment thoroughly with cool water until all detergent is removed.
  • Gently press out excess water without wringing or twisting the fabric.

Drying:

  • Air dry cotton poplin garments by laying them flat on a clean, dry towel or drying rack.
  • Smooth out any wrinkles or creases while the garment is still damp to facilitate easier ironing.
  • Avoid hanging cotton poplin garments to dry, as this can cause them to stretch out of shape.

Ironing:

  • Once the garment is nearly dry, iron it on a medium to high setting while still slightly damp for best results.
  • If necessary, use steam to remove stubborn wrinkles.
  • Iron the garment on the appropriate setting for cotton fabric, taking care not to apply too much pressure to avoid shiny spots or scorching.
  • Ironing on the wrong side of the fabric can help preserve its finish.
